How we handle personal data and student scripts.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Who we are

This policy explains how Datatechniques Limited (“we”, “us”), a company registered in Nigeria, handles personal data when you use Alama and this website. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What we collect

  • Contact details you send us, such as your name, school and email address.
  • Exam scripts, marking schemes and results uploaded by institutions using Alama.
  • Account and usage information from the Alama app.

How we use it

  • To mark scripts and produce results for the institution that uploaded them.
  • To respond to enquiries and run the school pilot.
  • To improve marking accuracy, using anonymised scripts only where the institution has agreed.

Who owns student work

Scripts and results belong to the institution that uploads them. Institutions are responsible for informing students and parents and obtaining any consent required.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers that host and process data for us under contract, or where the law requires it.

Storage and security

Data is stored with access controls and encryption in transit. With Alama Edge, scripts can be processed on-site without leaving the institution.

How long we keep data

We keep scripts and results for as long as the institution’s account is active or as agreed with the institution, then delete them.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to how it is used. Students should contact their school first; you can also email us.
